How to include non-speakers.

My family has always tried to include me even before they knew the extent of my intelligence.

I hear many of my peers share they felt babied, though that wasn’t my experience. I feel for them.

We should be talking to all non-speakers in an age appropriate manner.

Include us in the conversation even when we don’t have our communication device.

Provide us with chances to contribute and be patient as we respond.

It drives me nuts when people finish my sentence while I’m still spelling. It’s rude and inconsiderate.

Please do not talk about me in front of me. I can speak for myself.

Push me to be the best version of myself. Don’t set the bar so low.
